War has no winners. Take a rickshaw ride through Hanoi, and stroll through the French quarters. Cruise along the Halong Bay. End your trip on a spiritual note, in Angkor, visiting the temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon, and more remote temples in the jungles.

Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1:

The country's capital, Hanoi greets you warmly. As you pass skyscrapers while taking in the modern skyline, you also pass some cultural and historic monuments, which have survived the war. The architecture also bears a signature French characteristic, remnants of their rule sometime during 1888.

DAY 2:

A city of contrasts, Hanoi's Old Quarter has the original street layout and architecture of old Hanoi. Should learning interest you, there's always the Temple of Literature. And with the night market, and its variety of food, clothing and souvenirs, you would be spoilt for choice.

DAY 3:

Hanoi's history is rich, and nowhere else is this better reflected than in its art. The galleries of Hanoi provide a valuable insight into the city's way of life. For the religious, there are Buddhist temples, ancient , beautiful citadels, that offer sanctuary.

DAY 4:

Cruise along, in the emerald waters, in Halong Bay.As exotic as the legend about its creation, the bay's archipelago is indeed beautiful. The islands seem to come alive under the soft rays of the sun, adding to the ethereal feel of the place.

DAY 5:

Fly into Danang, to enjoy the nightlife that the China Beach strip has to offer. Gorge on streetfood. Drive to Hoi An. A delightful town devoid of pollution and excessive traffic.Bike to some of Central Vietnam's most laid-back and enticing beaches.

DAY 6:

Hoi An has a number of places to cater to every sort of traveller. Explore lounge bars, Chinese temples, and everything in between. The markets are colourful, and teeming with souvenirs to take back home.

DAY 7:

Fly back to Ho Chi Minh city, and go back in time as you dive into the immense network of underground tunnels at Cu Chi. Used by soldiers during the war, it is part of a huge network of tunnels, that criss cross most of the country.

DAY 8:

Find yourself in the midst of historic colonial French architecture, at Saigon. Present day Ho Chi Minh city, it has a number of museums, that illustrate its rich history, and bring it to life. Explore the colourful nightlife, into the wee hours of the morning.

DAY 9:

Fly to Siem Reap, and the see the glorious Khmer architecture. The temples and monuments here are great examples of the aesthetics of the people at that time. Explore the town, which has a number of fascinating locations.

DAY 10:

Find yourself in the abode of the gods, when you visit the beautiful temples at Angkor. A matter of great pride to all the Khmers, it is embodiment of their struggle to rebuild their lives. These temples are a point of pilgrimage for all who visit the region.

DAY 11:

Once you have explored Siem Reap, with its beautiful monuments, exquisite temples, and colourful markets, it is time to wind down the trip, and depart for home.
