Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1:

Arrive in Kochi, the financial capital of Kerala. A hub of industry and commerce, it is often in stark contrast to the laid back nature of the state. Discover the sights and sounds that Kochi has to offer.

DAY 2:

Take part in a city tour of Kochi. See the different ways in which people here live. Spend the day roaming the colourful bazaars selling interesting antiques. Take in a traditional and rare Kathakali dance performance.

DAY 3:

Drive to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Attracting wildlife enthusiasts for a long time now, Periyar boasts of an impressive array of plant and animal species. Explore the sanctuary, and if you're lucky, you might spot a rare species or two!

DAY 4:

Spend time in exploring the other facets of Periyar. Interestingly, it is also known as the Spice Coast. Traders, from ancient times, would convene here and trade in spices. Such a rich blend of heritage cannot be found anywhere else!

DAY 5:

Drive to Kumarakom. Famous for its backwaters tourism, Kumarakom is a small, quiet town. Beautiful houseboats ply the waters that criss cross the region. Set against the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is an experience you cannot afford to miss.

DAY 6:

Spend a day cruising the backwaters. An intricate system of canals, they run the length and breadth of Kerala, and are often used for transport in the region. Nothing better than lying on your back and watching the stars, while languidly cruising along the backwaters.

DAY 7:

After the backwaters have had a soothing effect on you, it is time to drive back to Kochi, and from there, fly to Goa. A much sought after destination in India, Goa is a beach lover's paradise. Explore the region, and experience typical Goan hospitality.

DAY 8:

This is where the tour really gets interesting.You discover this as you drive into Gokarna. A small coastal town in Karnataka, Gokarna is famous for its beautiful beaches. Arrive at Swaswara, a gorgeous locale. Take in the relaxed atmosphere, and unwind.

DAY 9:

Start the day with some Yoga. There'll be guidance to make sure you do it right! Follow it up with a walking excursion, exploring old towns and temples. Attend a lecture on the ancient practice of Ayurveda.

DAY 10:

Hop onto a boat, and take a cruise. Water calms the senses. Post that, attend a cooking lesson, to learn local cuisine. Follow it up by visiting a local school in the village. End an eventful day with a calming session of Yoga in the evening.

DAY 11:

Fancy wildlife? Then you'll love the visit to the Anshi National Park. Home to distinctive flora and fauna, one might be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the elusive Black Panther, Bengal Tiger, or a herd of Indian elephants.

DAY 12:

The day starts with a nature hike along an interesting trail. Visit the local farmers market, and check out the freshest produce. Enjoy a traditional dance and music performance, to gain a powerful insight into the local culture.

DAY 13:

With a bag full of memories, and a heart full of warmth, depart from Swaswara.
